I pulled off the kill solenoid and noticed that when the engine is cranked over the control rack pulls in to almost the kill position and then slowly comes back out to the run position the more you crank the engine. Once it is in the run position the engine starts and stays running. If you reach in with needle nose plyers and pull the rack back the engine starts and stays running. The only electronics on the pump is the kill solenoid and this problem happens even with the solenoid removed. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be The rack moves freely and does not stick anywhere. If this seams to cure the problem I would talk to a injecter pump rebuild shop as it sound a if the pump is lossing prime some way. I have work on Kubotas VERY LITTLE and I may be ALL WET but this is my 2 cents and with inflation, 2 cent is not worth much these days. Kent. I thought it may have been the problem so I put an electric fuel pump in its place and the problem still happens. When I get back into the shop (later in the week), I will have a look in the service manual, I suspect it has a broken spring. I have seen strange things happening with the new ultra low sulfur fuel we have now. Mikey. A local Allis-Chalmers collector had me down at his shop yesterday to look a big Allis power unit. I think he said the engine is the same as what was used in the M crawler. He want me to work on getting the engine on the LPNG side of the fuel system. I will have to rig up a micro switch to make the MURPHY work. Both coils energize when the engine starts and then the pull in coil drops out. That coil is wired to the starter motor and is only energized when the starter is energized. Each one is a DC and the other side each coil is grounded internally to the solenoid case. 3 Cyl Diesel Injection Pump Kubota Full 12 VoltsIf your solenoid has two coils, it sounds like the pull in coil may be open, not connected or has a bad connection and not receiving a full 12 volts. The holding coil doesnt have enough power to pull the fuel rack to the open position by itself.
